Spotlight on brain organoids : Why? What? How?

Derived from human pluripotent stem cells (PSC), cerebral organoids are 3D self-assembling cellular systems that recapitulate the human brain development in vitro. This approach has gained a tremendous interest in the last few years and has become an indispensable tool for developmental basic research, disease modelling, drug screening, or cell therapy.

The workshop aims to present the field of possibilities that this technique offers with a lecture of Laura Pelligrini (from Madeline Lancaster's lab, Cambridge, UK) that explains what brain organoids are, how the technique emerged and what they are used for. Other european team leaders are invited to demonstrate how brain organoids can serve various research topics, with in addition short talks of local teams and a round table at the end of the day to give more time to discussion.
